Four Bitcoin ladder calls land while Hormuz keeps oil elevated
Printed Oct 11, 2026
Brief
Overnight shipping risk stayed in the headline. UK maritime reports and regional accounts described fresh projectile and fire incidents on tankers in or near the Strait of Hormuz, while U.S. forces continued enforcing the Iran port blockade—including disabling a commercial vessel accused of trying to run it. Brent had already settled Friday at $104.72; the weekend did not remove the chokepoint story that is pinning crude above $100.
For this book, that is an oil-settle and rates story before it is a geopolitics essay. Daily Brent or WTI closes already compile. What does not yet compile cleanly is a count of Hormuz transit incidents or a Red Sea / Bab el-Mandeb outage window—those belong on the backlog with a public series, not as free-text “war” questions. The same rule applies to flood wording still sitting unanswered from Saturday.
Coinbase Exchange’s BTC-USD daily candle for October 10 opened at $82,544.71 and closed at $82,910.80. The session low was $82,458.02 and the high was $83,093.39. That close sits above $74,000 and $80,000 and below $84,000 and $86,000—one band, four graded rungs.
All four calls matched the directional rule. A close at or above $74,000 carried a 99.66 percent probability and resolved yes. A close at or above $80,000 carried 93.25 percent and resolved yes. A close at or above $84,000 carried 16.52 percent and resolved no. A close at or above $86,000 carried 3.3 percent and resolved no. Probabilities and outcomes are unchanged from the graded tape; the table below is the receipt.
At 10:04 UTC on October 11 the same market last traded at $82,956.73. The October 11 UTC candle is still open, so it is not graded here. Through October 10 the highest close in the October 5–11 window was $85,748.96 on October 5, and the question of a daily close at or above $90,000 in that window remains open—another cold ladder the book has not been asked to celebrate early.
U.S. cash markets are shut for Sunday. The S&P 500’s last close was 7,811.54 on Friday, October 9, and gold futures (GC=F) closed at $4,216.30 that session. The latest FRED prints are still October 8: the 10-year constant maturity at 5.22 percent and the effective federal funds rate at 3.88 percent, inside the 3.75–4.00 percent target range after the prior hike.
Lookahead is denser than the weekend quiet implies. September CPI is due around October 14, with energy expected to lift the headline after a September Brent average the EIA put near $114. The FOMC meets October 27–28. Separately, Washington’s diesel arrangement with Moscow and pressure on Kyiv over refinery strikes are moving the European energy wire—any “energy ceasefire” claim needs a dated, reciprocal, resolvable definition before it belongs on the scored book. Until then, print oil settles, CPI, and Fed language; leave ceasefire fidelity and flood stage on the backlog.
