Kharkiv plant struck hours after the energy-ceasefire claim
Printed Oct 11, 2026
What happened
Three things happened on Sunday. First, President Trump posted that Russia and Ukraine had agreed to an energy ceasefire “effective immediately.” Second, President Zelenskyy said that was news to him and that Ukraine would halt strikes on Russian energy sites only if Moscow did the same. Third, Zelenskyy said Russian forces struck Kharkiv thermal plant CHP-5 after the announcement. The Guardian and ABC reported the sequence; Moscow had not confirmed the deal by evening.
Elsewhere on the same wire: the UK Maritime Trade Operations reported a projectile strike on an outbound tanker in the , and Friday’s last oil settles still stood with futures shut ( $104.72, $91.85). In the U.S., remnants of Hurricane Isaias were flooding parts of the Carolinas after Friday’s Category 2 Florida landfall, with large outages still reported into Sunday afternoon.
What we expect next

Will Moscow publicly confirm a reciprocal Russia–Ukraine energy ceasefire by end of day October 12 (UTC)?
Sunday’s claim already met a Kharkiv plant strike and no Kremlin confirmation. A same-day public yes from Moscow would reverse the pattern of the afternoon wire.

Leaning yes 64%
Will September U.S. headline year-over-year print at or above 3.6?
Same energy arithmetic as the morning edition. Petrol-driven September crude keeps the headline preview near 3.6–3.7. Aligns with the open am-2026-10-11-medium call.

Will the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season finish with at least one more U.S. landfalling hurricane after Isaias?
Isaias already counted. Late-season systems remain possible into November. This is a live seasonal kind, unlike inland flood stage, so it is a cleaner long call than another oil-war binary.
Scorecard notes
No new engine rows graded since the 10:06 UTC morning receipt. That edition already recorded the October 10 Bitcoin ladder at ($82,910.80 close) with four directional rights. This edition’s closes table is empty on purpose. Stored scores are not rewritten.
The October 11 UTC candle is still open. At 22:04 UTC last traded BTC-USD at $83,486.64 (session range so far $82,714.25 to $84,110.99). An intraday print above $84,000 is not a daily close. Still open on the book: Bitcoin $90,000 and Ethereum $2,800 in the October 5–11 window, plus a long-shot $150 October high.
Next clean scheduled prints: September around 8:30 a.m. Eastern on October 14, then the on October 27–28. Thin graded volume is why the forecasts section has to carry the forward tape until those dates fill.
